Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani released in theatres on July 28. Karan Johar who returned as a director with a film after a gap of seven years has kickstarted at the box office with a bang. The film’s worldwide gross collections stand at Rs. 95.74 crores by the end of Monday, Day 4 of its release.
In a conversation with Anupama Chopra on Film Companion, Johar spilled a few beans on a possible sequel to Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, the film would show the married couple living separately and having their own space.
“I definitely think Rani would not move into Randhawa Paradise. I think that the Chatterjees wouldn’t mind her moving out. I think they would move into a separate home. They both get along well enough with each other’s families to now create a world of their own. So in my head neither does Rani move to Rocky’s or Rocky move to Rani’s, they have a place of their own. But in my head, I think Rani would do the place up, she wouldn't depend on Rocky’s aesthetics. But Rocky wouldn’t stop being Rocky.”
The director added, “You know we discussed Part 2? Alia, Ranveer and me used to chat about it and think about what the story could be because these two deserve a spin-off. We imagined a story, we actually have a sort of story but it was too nascent a thought. So they definitely live somewhere in Delhi but not with their parents.”
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is produced and directed by Karan Johar. The film has music by Pritam and lyrics penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya. In addition to Singh and Bhatt, the film also stars veteran actors Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi and Jaya Bachchan in key roles.
