Since Mallika Sherawat exited Pritish Nandy’s upcoming series The Royals earlier this year due to creative differences, the showrunners have found a replacement in Sakshi Tanwar, beloved for her role in Sony’s long-running show Bade Achhe Lagte Hain. Actors Bhumi Pednekar and Ishaan Khatter are currently part of the project, with Tanwar to play the latter’s on-screen mother.
Although the role did not align with Sherawat’s expectations, causing her to back out of the project, it will be exciting to see how Tanwar steps into the character. The Royals (which has reportedly been picked up by Netflix) will combine real and fictional stories from various Rajasthani royal families, flitting between past and present timelines. Audiences can expect a glimpse into the lavish lifestyles and petty politics of the Indian aristocracy.
