Shah Rukh Khan starrer Dunki and Prabhas starrer Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire are both scheduled to release on December 22. While Dunki's release date was announced over a year ago, Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire's new release date was announced on September 29, a day after the film's original release date of September 28.
With both films anticipated to get a fabulous response from audiences, the distribution of these big-budget movies might determine if either one will open to a slight advantage over the other.
While Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire is being distributed by Anil Thadani's company AA Films, a report in Bollywood Hungama says that Pen Marudhar will distribute Khan's film Dunki. A source close to the development told the portal, "Pen will be releasing Dunki in most of the territories in India. After the historic success of Jawan, Pen will be looking to give Dunki a wide release across the country. Rajkumar Hirani and Jio have also shown complete faith in the model of SRK and team."
The report further claims that Pen Marudhar has promised to give Dunki a bigger release than Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire. "It's SRK at his peak and no one can get it easy in a clash with him. The distributors and exhibitors are excited to screen the combo of SRK and Rajkumar Hirani. While the Salaar team might opt for various models to secure screens, just the combo of SRK and Hirani is enough to excite the audience," the source said, adding that Pen has initiated conversations with exhibitors to get showcasing in place for Dunki.
Dunki is directed by Rajkumar Hirani and co-stars Taapsee Pannu. Salaar: Part1- Ceasefire is directed by Prashanth Neel and co-stars Shruti Haasan, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Jagapathi Babu.
