Student of The Year 3 will be a Web Series, Headlined by Shanaya Kapoor

According to a report in Times of India, Karan Johar revealed at the Cinevesture International Film Festival (CIFF) about his upcoming projects, one of them being Student of the Year 3 which will now be made as a web series.

Talking about collaborating with emerging directors and writers, Johar announced filmmaker Reema Maya will be directing the web series, “Reema Maya will be directing the digital version of Student of the Year. But it will be her way and definitely not mine because if I’ll enter Reema Maya’s world, then I will make it more of an illusion, which is what her name means. I just wanted it to be her voice. She made it her own series.”

Maya is an international award-winning writer-director and the co-founder of the production house, Catnip. She is an independent filmmaker known for her short films that premiered at various film festivals. At Sundance Film Festival 2018, her short film Counterfeit Kunkoo received good response.

Talking about the franchise, Student of the Year which released in 2012 starred Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan who also made their Hindi film debut with the film. Similarly, Student of the Year 2 (2019) featuring Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria as female leads made their debut with the sequel. The film also starred Tiger Shroff in the lead.
