Following the success of Gadar 2, a trade analyst has shared a poster on X, formerly Twitter, announcing the sequel to Sunny Deol's film Maa Tujhhe Salaam (2002). The sequel is titled Maa Tujhhe Salaam 2 and the poster carries a modified version of the earlier film’s popular dialogue, “Doodh maangoge toh kheer denge, Kashmir maangoge toh chheer denge” (If you ask for milk we will give you kheer, (sweetened milk and rice pudding), if you ask for Kashmir we will destroy you). The sequel was announced with the slogan, ‘Doodh maangoge toh kheer denge, Kashmir maangoge toh Lahore bhi chheen lenge’ (If you ask for milk we will give you kheer if you ask for Kashmir, we will take away Lahore as well).

The cast and crew of the film have not been announced but it is expected that Deol, who was the leading man in the first film will be a part of the sequel as well.

Maa Tujhe Salaam, which also starred Arbaaz Khan and Tabu, told the story of Major Pratap Singh (Deol), an army officer posted in Kashmir, fighting on enemy lines. Albaksh (Khan), is an illiterate Indian man working for Lala Sultan (Tinu Verma). When he realises that Sultan is hand in glove with Pakistani officials to create conflict in Kashmir, Albaksh leaves his service. However, he pays a heavy price for his patriotism and needs Singh to come to his rescue. Tabu features in the film as Captain Sonia Khanna.

Maa Tujhhe Salaam was released on January 25, 2002, months after the successful release of Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2001).
