Tabu Starrer Chandni Bar Confirmed for Sequel

The National award winning film Chandni Bar (2001) will now have a sequel and is set to release in December 2025. The film which was originally directed by Madhur Bhandarkar featured Tabu in a titular role of Mumtaz, a bar dancer navigating the complexities of Mumbai’s underbelly.

The film also stars Rajpal Yadav, Atul Kulkarni and Ananya Khare in supporting roles. The sequel will now be directed by writer turned director Mohan Azad who originally wrote the screenplay and dialogues for the original film.

Azad will make his directorial debut with Chandni Bar 2. Speaking about the sequel, Azad expressed his enthusiasm and said, "The producer of this film R. Mohan had expressed this desire long ago about the sequel of Chandni Bar, about whose story we were very confused. But I am happy that we have written the story of this sequel film in a tremendous manner. And I am sure that we will be able to repeat the same success of Chandni Bar once again in the coming year,” in a press note.
