Thalaivar 170: Rajinikanth Pens A Heartfelt Note About Working with Amitabh Bachchan

After Jailer (2023), Rajinikanth will be next seen in the yet untitled ‘Thalaivar 170’. The team had earlier announced that Amitabh Bachchan will also be a part of the big-budget entertainer, written and directed by TJ Gnanavel of Jai Bhim (2021) fame. The superstar shared a picture on set with Amitabh Bachchan, expressing his excitement about sharing the screen space with him again. Rajinikanth wrote, “After 33 years, I am working again with my mentor, the phenomenon, Shri Amitabh Bachchan in the upcoming Lyca’s "Thalaivar 170" directed by T.J Gnanavel. My heart is thumping with joy!”

The duo earlier worked together in the action film Hum (1991), where they played brothers on screen. The upcoming film co-stars Manju Warrier, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati and Dushara Vijayan, among others. The project bankrolled by Lyca Productions is touted to be an action entertainer revolving around a retired police officer’s fight against the system. Amitabh Bachchan is said to be making an extended guest appearance. The film will have music by Anirudh Ravichander. The team has completed its first two schedules in Kerala and Tirunelveli and is currently shooting in Mumbai. SR Kathir cranks the camera while Philomin Raj handles the editing of the film.
