Vasanth Ravi, who was seen in Rajinikanth’s Jailer, will be acting alongside Sathyaraj in Weapon. Vishal recently unveiled the film’s trailer, which hints that the thriller will be about how a covert group led by Vasanth Ravi search for a superhuman entity. On the other hand, Sathyaraj will be playing the central role of a sentient being that may represent evil and inhuman strength.
The caption in the teaser reads, “India’s First Ever Superhuman Saga” and establishes Sathyaraj’s character as this all-powerful figure being chased down by several interested parties. The film is written and directed by Guhan Senniappan, who is known for his work in films like Sawaari (2016) and Prime Video’s Tamil original series Vella Raja (2018).
The film will feature Sathyaraj’s character’s flashback and the team has used AI to come up with a younger version of the actor to make it more believable. In films like Acharya and Vikram (not used in the final film), the de-ageing technology has been used for actors Chiranjeevi and Kamal Haasan, respectively. Taking this a step further, it is said that the technology will be used with digital storyboards and animation and will feature a fight scene between Sathyaraj and Vasanth Ravi’s characters in an integral stretch.
The film has music by Ghibran and cinematography by Prabhu Raghav. Bankrolled by Million Studio, this pan-Indian film with dubbed versions in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam is eyeing a September release.
