Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies Brings Riverdale to India

The trailer for Zoya Akhtar’s much anticipated The Archies was unveiled at Netflix’s global fan event TUDUM 2023, which went live in Brazil on June 17. The musical feature film set in 1964, in the fictional town of Riverdale (the original American comic character Archie lived in Riverdale). Based on characters from the famous Archie comics, the teenagers in Akhtar’s The Archies belong to the Anglo-Indian community and their coming-of-age story promises to include young love, rock and roll, and intrigue.

The Archies boasts of a starry set of debutants: Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan (as the character based on Veronica Lodge), Janhvi Kapoor’s sister Khushi Kapoor (as the character based on Betty Cooper) and Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda (as the character based on Archie Andrews). Also in the cast are Mihir Ahuja, Dot, Vedang Raina, and Yuvraj Menda.

The Archies is produced by Netflix India, Tiger Baby, Archie Comics and Graphic India. The film is expected to release later this year.
