After nearly two decades of box-office-breaking mass entertainment, Rohit Shetty himself is more of a film than his films. He is more of an ideology than a director. Despite a mixed period by his standards – Sooryavanshi raked it in while Cirkus did not – Shetty remains the most bankable creator of mainstream Bollywood. What he makes is now no longer the point. Rarely has a Hindi film-maker achieved the kind of superstardom that’s usually reserved for heroes. No credit today is more famous than “A film by Rohit Shetty and Team”.
