If there is a stable sound of female desire and expression in Hindi cinema, it might be that of Shreya Ghoshal — chaste and charming. With more than two decades in this industry, her voice has become more ubiquitous, never tiring or becoming predictable, from 12th Fail’s ‘Bolo Na’ to Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’s ‘Tum Kya Mile’. In fact the absence of her name in the latter song’s promotional video led to a swift backlash, which made the makers release a Shreya Ghoshal reprise version of the song. Such is both her popularity and artistry.
