With a whopping 28 titles in this two-year window, it’s tempting to suggest that TVF – the original First Movers of the Indian streaming space – makes the cut by sheer volume. But it has managed to sustain its core audience and retain a balance of consistency, scale and relatability. While extending the legacies of immensely popular franchises like Panchayat, Gullak, Pitchers, Tripling and Yeh Meri Family, TVF has churned out dozens of modest slice-of-life shows that tap the post-work meal-watching demographic. Despite criticisms of its social blind spots and apolitical treatment, TVF has stayed true to its mid-budget, middle-class, nostalgic and male-focused aesthetic. It works for a reason.
