Once upon a time, Helen walked into a salon to get her hair done. A young man was given the responsibility of styling her hair, and the two started chatting. He told her that it would be a dream come true if she’d have him as a hairstylist for her movie roles. She suggested he become a make-up artist if he wanted to work in films because at the time, only women did the hair part of hair and make-up. The man took her advice, and consequently, we have Helen to thank for the many dazzling makeovers and make-up trends that Mickey Contractor has given the Hindi film industry. A favourite of A-listers and the patron saint of smoky eyes, Contractor has shown over the years that make-up is not just about highlighting what makes a face look beautiful, but also using it like war paint to make a dramatic impact.
