Streaming platforms are notorious for their lack of transparency, allowing them to quote numbers that are tough to verify. Ormax Media, a media consulting firm, however, has been tracking viewership figures of the top releases across major platforms.

Here’s a list of the most-viewed shows and movies from the Indian streaming space between April 8th and April 14th, 2024. The numbers are estimates based within India, and only include Hindi streaming releases. 

1. The Great Indian Kapil Show - Netflix

Views (million): 4.6

Kapil Sharma reunites with Sunil Grover and his rag-tag comedy crew to bring the popular essence of his weekly comedy show on Netflix. The Great Indian Kapil Show will drop one episode per week. 

2. Amar Singh Chamkila - Netflix

Views (million): 3.5

This biographical drama is based on the life of influential Punjabi musician Amar Singh Chamkila. It is directed by Imtiaz Ali, and stars Diljit Dosanjh in the titular role, with Parineeti Chopra as Chamkila’s wife Amarjot.

3. Lootere - Disney+ Hotstar

Views (million): 3.3

Hansal Mehta is the showrunner on this web-series, which is based on the real-life hijacking of a ship by menacing pirates. Rajat Kapoor plays the ship captain.

4. Yeh Meri Family Season 3 - Amazon MiniTV

Views (million): 2.3

TVF’s Yeh Meri Family is back with a third season. Set in the spring of 1995, the multi-season family-drama portrays the story of a typical, relatable Indian household through the eyes of the youngest member—Rishi (Anngad Raaj), a 10-year-old mischievous boy with a heart as big as his dreams.

5. Patna Shuklla - Disney+ Hotstar

Views (million): 2.0

The movie follows Tanvi Shukla (Raveena), a lawyer in Patna's lower court, who is living her childhood dream of becoming a lawyer.
