Trailer Talk: In 102 Not Out, Amitabh Bachchan And Rishi Kapoor Play A Quarreling Father And Son

In Shoojit Sircar's 2015 film, Piku, Amitabh Bachchan plays a cantankerous old man who drives his young daughter up the wall with his paranoia. In Umesh Shukla's 102 Not Out, he's once again an ageing father, except here he's troubling his 75 year old son, played by Rishi Kapoor.

Here Bachchan is a much cooler father. He's 102 and hasn't lost his zest for life. We see him dancing in the rain, playing football and plotting mischief against his son. He wants to live much longer, but not with his grumpy son who he wants to pack off to an old age home. He describes him as a 'thakela pakela boring insaan'. In his defence, Kapoor's character says, "maine apna budhapa sweekar kiya hai." The father and son are shown having arguments but also dancing in the rain like children. The tagline of the film describes it as an 'ageless family comedy'.

The film has been written by Saumya Joshi, who also wrote the successful Gujarati play on which the film has been based. It's been directed by Umesh Shukla, whose most popular film is Oh My God starring Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar.

Kapoor and Bachchan have worked together in some iconic films like Amar Akbar Anthony and Kabhie Kabhie in the past, but it's been decades since they have appeared together. In this movie, both actors are saddled with heavy make-up, wigs and Gujarati accents. They also seem to be in top form with their sharp comedic timing. If nothing, just watching these great actors play off each other makes 102 Not Out a film to look forward to. It releases on May 4.
