Dhamaka On Netflix Teaser Talk: Long-Hair-Don’t-Care Kartik Aaryan In A Ram Madhvani Newsroom Thriller

In Dhamaka Kartik Aaryan plays Arjun Pathak, a "frustrated ex-news anchor". The teaser begins tense with him puking, saying he cannot do it, queasy, but then he goes on to do it anyway. "It" being anchoring on air, after getting a call on a terrorist bomb threat. The film is set in Mumbai, the title credits over a bombed Worli Sea Link.

Bespectacled, bearded, with long-hair, this is a Kartik Aaryan we have not seen. An actor known for his rom-coms with iconic monologues, this is a change of landscape, but of course the monologue is now part of his character description — a news anchor, a job which is by default monologue friendly. Madhvani, fresh off the success of his last series Aarya, is known for his meticulous, lived-in shooting schedules. The roaming, fly on the wall camera — his signature — is seen here too.

Also starring Mrunal Thakur, Amruta Subhash, Vikas Kumar and Vishwajeet Pradhan, written by Puneet Sharma, and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, Amita Madhvani, and Ram Madhvani, the film drops on Netflix, though the date hasn't been announced.
