The 2012 young-adult novel by John Green, The Fault In Our Stars, was an instant classic, its quotes replicated across Tumblr blogs of the Nerdfighteria (John Green's fan club). The Hollywood adaptation of it starring Ansel Elgort and Shailene Woodley took this cult-charm to mythic proportions. Now this charm of the original text leaks into Hindi cinema with the late Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi playing the roles of cancer afflicted young lovers.

Sanghi plays Kizie Basu living with thyroid cancer, fearing the nearing end of her life. Her brush-in with Rajput playing Manny, who fought a bout of osteosarcoma sculpts this story of love in times of disease, and hope in times of impending death.

Manny calls himself a "fighter", and with his wit, charm, virginity, boyish basketball jersey, and fortitude charts a course of recovery- of the heart and the body. The love and chatter play out to music by A.R.Rahman. It would be interesting to see how this film adapts the book's iconic dialogues. In the trailer we see "Okay?" "Okay" become "Seri?" "Seri". (Seri means okay in Tamil)

Written by Suprotim Sengupta and Shashank Khaitan, directed by Mukesh Chhabra, this film will premier digitally on July 24 on Disney+Hotstar
