Khaali-Peeli is clever word-play. Kaali-Peeli are the black-and-yellow Mumbai cabs used predominantly South of Sion. Khaali-Peeli is a popular phrase to describe something done for no rhyme or reason.
This is a story of a kaali peeli driver (the cab's name plate is 6969, suggestive and inane) played by Ishaan Khatter who khaali-peeli gets into a muddy racket caused by one of his cab-farers played by Ananya Panday. The teaser veers between kitsch action involving slingshots, cricket metaphors, shattered shards of glass, and kitschier romance with confetti, neon, pops-and-locks.
Produced by Himanshu Kishan Mehra, Ali Abbas Zafar, Zee Studios, and directed by Maqbool Khan, the release date and platform will be announced soon.
