The trailer for arguably the biggest Bollywood film of 2020, Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi, is here.
Starring Akshay Kumar as the titular cop, Sooryavashi is Rohit Shetty's third cop franchise movie after Singham (Ajay Devgn) and Simmba (Singham). This film sees all three come together on screen for the first time. In short, this marks Hindi cinema's first attempt at a full-blown Cinematic Universe, Bollywood's answer to the MCU, if you will.
Despite clocking in at just over 4 minutes, the trailer certainly delivers, establishing Akshay Kumar's super cop and all the style, swag and one-liners that come with it, as well as inducing some goosebumps at seeing the three leading men on screen together. Joining them is Katrina Kaif who plays Sooryavanshi's wife.
While Singham and Simmba dealt with corruption and rape respectively, Sooryavanshi's issue of choice is terrorism; Kumar's character attempts to foil a religious extremist group's plan to stage the biggest terror attack yet in Mumbai. As Ranveer Singh's Simmba points out – in a fun little meta moment, that if Singham loves his jeeps then Sooryavanshi loves his helicopters, with at least 10 of those featuring in the trailer, with one scene seeing him jump onto a helicopter from his bike. With a wider cast which includes Kumud Mishra, Javed Jaffrey, Sikander Kher among others, Sooryavanshi releases on March 24th. It's produced by Dharma Productions, Rohit Shetty Picturez and Reliance Entertainment.
