After facing a delay for several years, Ayan Mukerji's highly-anticipated BRAHMĀSTRA, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, and Alia Bhatt, sets up The Astraverse. The film – the first part in a trilogy – is titled 'Part One: Shiva' and features an ensemble star cast that also includes Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna Akkineni in pivotal roles.
The trailer introduces us to Shiva (Ranbir Kapoor) and Isha (Alia Bhatt) as they fall in love. Shiva realizes he is the chosen one — he doesn't get burnt by fire — and must embark on a journey that is both superheroic and personal.
Announced in October 2017, Mukerji – whose last release, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani hit the theaters in 2013 – spent six years in preparation for the film. It had also been revealed that the trilogy would be shot over the course of ten years. The film has five DOPs credited — V Manikandan, Sudeep Chatterjee, Pankaj Kumar, Patrick Duroux, Vikash Nowlakha.
With music by Pritam and lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya, the Indian superhero film, co-produced by Dharma Productions, Fox Star Studios, Prime Focus and Starlight Pictures, will release theatrically on September 9, 2022. It'll be released in five languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
