A brother and sister fall in love with the same man, their paying guest played by Preteik Babbar. Cobalt Blue follows the emotional beats of the brother, an aspiring author (Neelay Mehendale) and his free-spirited sister (Anjali Sivaraman) as they navigate this tricky triangle. Based on Aiyya (2012) director Sachin Kundalkar's bestselling Marathi novel of the same name (translated to English by Jerry Pinto), and directed by Kundalkar himself, the film's visuals have that airy, sun-dappled quality of Call Me By Your Name, which also dealt with themes of sexuality with a soft, sensual hand. The bicycle imagery is hard to miss.
Produced by Priya Sreedharan, Wasim Khan and Zulfaquar Torabi, the film premieres on Netflix on December 3rd.
