King Richard is the biopic of Richard Williams, father to modern tennis legends – Venus (Saniyya Disney) and Serena Williams (Demi Singleton). The film is set primarily in their childhood. The trailer begins with Richard coming home to find Child Services officers at his home, presumably to check if the children are being taken care of properly. Richard trains both sisters in tennis, and he tells the Child Services officer that him and his wife are hard on them, because it's their job to keep them off the streets by making sure they excel. He has had a plan to make them tennis pros before they were even born, and while others constantly tell him that it's unlikely that he will succeed, he still persists. The trailer shows us where the Williams sisters began, with people constantly underestimating them because of their race and age. But Richard encourages them constantly, telling them that they're both going to represent every black girl in the world and they cannot let them down.

Richard is a pillar of strength, and has unending faith in his daughters – telling them that they're champions and the whole world will know it as long as they keep their head up high. We see the love and camaraderie in their family, and the trailer promises to give us a look into the story behind Venus and Serena's success.

The film also stars Aunjanue Ellis, Jon Bernthal and Liev Schreiber in key roles. King Richard is directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green and releases in theatres this year.
