Kuthiraivaal became the first Indian film to premiere at the Berlin Critics Week. After receiving many laurels at several film festivals, the film is now all set to play at the theatres.
The trailer of the film hints at the concept of magical realism where Saravanan (Kalaiyarasan) has a dream one night and wakes up only to find that he has grown a horsetail. Why does he get a tail? Was he a horse in the previous life or is it a sex symbol?
The answer to his questions is in his dream. Not able to remember the dream, he seeks the help of a teacher and starts searching for a solution in the world of mathematics. With glimpses of scenes relating to identity and its erasure, this psychological thriller touches upon dreams, mathematics, sexual references and psychoanalysis, to the extent that the protagonist calls himself Freud. The trailer ends with the portrayal of a horse without a tail.
