Dear Friend has Tovino Thomas playing the lead role. The trailer gives us glimpses of several happy and memorable moments he shares with his gang of friends. However, these just remain happy memories. The trailer doesn't give away the major conflict points.
It starts with Tovino meeting a therapist, played by Darshana Rajendran. While Darshana is seen as a therapist, she is also seen as his friend and it looks like she is a major part of his trauma. The trailer then cuts into multiple events without showing why such events take place, keeping us in the dark and building curiosity. There are also scenes where he hits one of his friends in anger, he is being interrogated by police, and towards the end of the trailer, he also starts ghosting his friends.
What is he guilty of? Why is he ghosting his friends with whom he once connected so well? Did he make any mistakes or was wronged by any of his friends? Why is he running away from his past? The answers to these questions would most likely build-up to the major plotline.
