The trailer for Milap Zaveri's next, Marjaavaan is here.
The film stars Sidharth Malhotra who appears to be continuing his efforts at focusing on box office over substance after this year's Jabariya Jodi. The first 30 seconds of the trailer alone offers a factory line of 'intensity' – slow motion entries and hordes of flying people on fire and/or smashing into glass. There are also some golden one-liners, including 'mandir aur masjid dono milenge' and 'madat milegi har kisi ko, maango ya ali se ya bajrang bali se'. Need we go on?
Next, we get the textbook 'deep love song' to introduce the mandatory damsel in distress. Here it is Tara Sutaria, her next after being launched in Student Of The Year 2. Then, of course, is the villain's entry. The villain in question is a vertically challenged Riteish Deshmukh who has his own array of one-liners, most of which seem to be spoken into a mirror. Apparently Zero began a trend.
The rest is a disorienting blur of more fight scenes with Sidharth Malhotra rarely fighting anything less than 10 guys at a time. There are plenty shots of him breaking spines and bouncing people along the way. In short, it feels like a call back to the masala movies of the '80s that nobody asked for.
The sensory overload hits screens on November 8th, you can watch the trailer here:
