The trailer of Narappa, directed by Sreekanth Addala and starring Venkatesh and Priyamani, was released today. Narappa is the Telugu remake of Vetrimaaran's Asuran (starring Dhanush), The trailer opens very similarly to the Asuran trailer (whose pattern it follows closely), and is set to similar music. It first shows a Narappa emerging from the shadows behind a tree. You see the memorable visual from the Tamil version, where Narappa crosses a pond in the forest with his son, Sinnabba. We also get a glimpse of Narappa's transformation scene.
There's a flashback of Narappa as a young man in full swagger. Venkatesh looks earnest and believable as the simple Narappa, a farmer from Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh, especially in the shot where he tells his younger son, Sinnappa, about the importance of education. From the trailer, it appears like Narappa is likely to be a solid and close remake of Asuran.
Earlier in December 2020, a day before Telugu superstar Venkatesh Dagubatti's 60th birthday, the makers of his upcoming film 'Narappa', released a 30-second teaser video titled 'Glimpse Of Narappa', introducing his character in the film. In the teaser, we get two shots (one in the day and one during night time) of an angry and intense Narappa getting ready to attack. While he sports a sickle in one, one can see him holding a bamboo stick in the other, while wearing the same brown shirt and head scarf look made popular by Dhanush.
Directed by Sreekanth Addala, and starring Venkatesh, Priyamani, Rao Ramesh, Nassar, Karthik Rathnam, Ammu Abhirami and Rajeev Kanakala, Narappa is produced by D. Suresh Babu and Kalaipuli S Thanu. The film is written by Vetrimaaran, the director of Asuran and winner of National film awards for direction and screenplay. Cinematography is by Shyam K. Naidu and music by Mani Sharma. It's set to release on Amazon Prime Video on July 20.
