The trailer for Milap Milan Zaveri's Satyameva Jayate features buzzwords from the Modi Sarkar era. It begins with a nod to 'Acche din' and there is a line about 'Chhappan inch' later. The words are spoken by John Abraham whose grim voiceover informs us that he wants to clean up corruption by taking things into his own hands. We see him in various disguises: whipping himself up in a Muharram procession, a cop, a uniformed petrol pump employee. He is the son of a disgraced police officer.
Manoj Bajpayee, his adversary, is a cop who doesn't go by the book. We get a remix version of "Dilbar" (Sirf Tum) and a weird rendition of the Sufi song "Tajdar-e-haram". There seems to be little that is original in Satyameva Jayate, including its title.
Zaveri had directed Mastizaade and has written films like Housefull. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar and Nikhil Advani, it will release on 15 August.
