Shyam Singha Roy Teaser Talk: Nani Is A Revolutionary Writer Set To ‘Free’ Women

Makers of the upcoming Telugu film, Shyam Singha Roy, have released a teaser today. The film is directed by Rahul Sankrityan, his next after Vijay Devarkonda starrer – Taxiwala. The original story is written by Satyadev Janga.

The one minute forty six seconds teaser introduces Kolkata during protests, Shyam Singha Roy giving speeches and leading a movement. He is seen typing "God and His Prostitutes" on his typewriter suggesting that the film could address the plight of women as temple slaves. He goes on to say "Women are not anyone's slaves who can be bought and imprisoned. Not even God's."

Previously, a song titled 'Rise of Shyam' released that said Shyam Singha Roy (Nani) is a revolutionary writer who speaks up for people's causes, strives for the truth and fights injustice. The song is penned by Krishna Kanth in Telugu, Soundararajan K in Tamil, Kaviraj in Kannada and Rafeeq Ahamed in Malayalam. Vocals are by Anurag Kulkarni, Vishal Dadlani and Cizzy. The song is composed by Mickey J Meyer and he's also the music composer for the film itself. 

From visuals of the song and posters so far, it seems like Nani plays a dual role as both Shyam Singha Roy in a period drama setting and a modern day character Vasu. Sai Pallavi will be seen in this film, after her last film Love Story. Krithi Shetty, Madonna Sebastian, Rahul Ravindran, Murli Sharma and Abhinav Gomatam are also playing crucial roles. 

The film will release in four languages – Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada. Cinematographer Sanu John Verghese has been roped in while Naveen Nooli is the editor. It is being produced by Venkat S Boyanapalli under the banner of Niharika Entertainment.

Shyam Singha Roy will release in theaters on December 24.
