The makers of the heist comedy Japan recently released the film’s trailer. It was launched at a star-studded event that featured prominent artists including Suriya, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Tamannaah Bhatia. The Raju Murugan directorial begins with a fairy-tale-like story narrated by Karthi. The story talks about a young fish who starts hunting other animals in the sea for his mother. The fish continues to do so and transforms into a whale.
The tale is juxtaposed with visuals of Karthi’s Japan, robbing different places. All eyes are on Japan when ₹200 crores is stolen from a minister’s house and the heist also results in a murder. We are introduced to the characters of KS Ravikumar and Sunil, with the latter being a police officer. What follows is a cat-and-mouse chase with Japan’s rivals also joining in on the action.
Backed by SR Prabhu and SR Prakash Babu under the Dream Warrior Pictures banner, Japan co-stars Anu Emmanuel, KS Ravikumar, Sunil, and Vijay Milton. It has music by GV Prakash Kumar, cinematography by S Ravi Varman, and editing by Philomin Raj. The filmmakers have announced that Japan will be released on Diwali.
