After the two Indian adaptations of the international series Modern Love — Modern Love Mumbai and Modern Love Hyderabad, their third edition is set to explore love, romance and life in the bustling Chennai city.
The six-episode anthology speaks about love among different generations set in different areas. For instance, while Bharathiraja’s Paravai Kootil Vaazhum Maangal seems to explore the companionship two middle-aged people share in a train ride, upgraded to a Metro train in the modern set-up, Krishnakumar Ramakumar’s Kaadhal Enbadhu Kannula Heart Irukkura Emoji traces how Ritu Varma navigates high school and college romance. With songs composed by Ilaiyaraaja, Yuvan Shankar Raja, GV Prakash and Sean Roldan, the trailer offers a musical feast.
“For centuries what we cannot understand is the human heart,” Kishore says. From small fights, exchanging lunch boxes, and eating in the roadside stalls during heavy rain to couples wondering about their future in case their parents don’t accept their love, Modern Love Chennai promises to explore all facets of love.
The six-episode anthology also includes episodes — Lalagunda Bommaigal, Imaigal, Margazhu, and Ninaivo Oru Paravai — helmed by directors Rajumurugan, Balaji Sakthivel, Akshay Sundher, and Thiagarajan Kumararaja. The series stars Ritu Varma, Ashok Selvan, Ramya Nambessan, Wamiqa, Sri Gouri Priya, Samyuktha, Kishore and others. It is slated to be out on Amazon Prime Video on May 18.
