Based on the short story "Kaithigal" penned by Jeyamohan, the Aha original traces the Naxalite movement in Tamil Nadu in the 1980s.
While the media and police try to nab the Naxalites for the murders of a loan-shark and a police officer, the Naxalites, settled in a forest, ask if fighting the wrong is rowdyism.
The government plans to take down Appu, their gang leader of sorts, but the Naxalites are ready to protect him at any cost. "Comrade, pala thyaagangal ah thaandi thaan latchiyangaluku vetri kedaikum / only after a lot of sacrifices will our dreams succeed," says one of them. "But is losing so many people to protect my life called sacrifice?" questions Appu.
Directed by Rafiq Ismail and presented by Magizh Mandram, Rathasaatchi will be released on Aha Tamil on December 9.
