Varisu Trailer Talk: Vijay Fights To Save His Family Business In Style

Vijay's Varisu is directed by Telugu filmmaker Vamshi Paidipally of Maharshi (2019) and Oopiri / Thozha (2016) fame. As someone who has proved his mettle in portraying close bonds and emotions, at the center of Padipally's Varisu is an intricate joint family and a business tussle.

The trailer of Varisu echoes nostalgia. Be it the Surya Vamsam (1997) vibes in the film (interestingly, Sarathkumar plays the father in Varisu as well) or the electric combo of the hero-villain in Vijay and Prakash Raj. Vijay is the third son of Sarathkumar, and is the notorious one in the batch. While Sarathkumar's elder sons look after the business, Vijay wanders around across several cities.

But when a competitor in Prakash Raj threatens the business empire of Sarathkumar and also creates rift in the family, Vijay takes charge. Apart from his mass fights and a near escape under the truck, he also belts out punch dialogues like, "Whether you show love or hate, I will return it in triple effect." The Thaman numbers like "Thalaiva" and "It is time to give it back" in the backdrop ups the effect of the trailer.

While off screen, it is about the Vijay vs Ajith clash after 8 years, on screen, it is going to be a fun feast to see the face off between Vijay and Prakash Raj after 12 years. They have acted together in films like Ghilli (2004) and Pokkiri (2007).

Bankrolled by Dil Raju, the film co-stars Rashmika Mandanna, Prakash Raj, Prabhu, Sarathkumar, Jayasudha, Khushbu, Shaam, Ganesh Venkatraman, Yogi Babu, and Sneha. Thaman has scored the music.

Eight years after Ajith's Veeram and Vijay's Jilla clashed for Pongal in 2014, Kollywood is gearing up for the big Pongal 2023 battle between Ajith Kumar's Thunivu and Vijay's Varisu.
