On Alia Bhatt's birthday, the team behind SS Rajamouli's RRR, starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan, released a poster to further add to the hype surrounding one of the biggest Indian films in the making. The poster doesn't reveal much about the character 'Sita', and  shows her in what appears to be a contemplative mood. Sita might be Alluri Sitarama Raju's (played by Ram Charan) love interest in the film. She is going to be a strong-willed character.

Just last month we also got the teaser of Alia Bhat's other major film Gangubai Kathiadwadi. In the 1 and a half minute teaser of the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film, Gangubai, the feisty moon of the brothel who bows to neither pimp nor politician.

On October 6 last year, the RRR team posted an update on its progress by releasing a making video. This was followed by a surprise update introducing us to one of the two lead characters in the film. In this introduction video, one could make out that the two leads of the film represent the elements of fire and water.

Jr NTR's character is the one taking on the motif of water, evident even in the blueish themes used in this update. If Ram Charan's character introduction features his use of weapons like fire power and guns, Jr NTR's hero is seen using a spear and a chain.

The one-and-a-half minute video begins in the forest with lush visuals of water and greenery, reminding one of the spectacular visuals of the first part of Baahubali. And like Ram Charan's character introduction, this video too plays out like a training montage as Tarak prepares himself for a rebellion against the British.

Similarly, Ram Charan too got a character introduction scene on his birthday in March of last year. In contrast to Bheem, Ram Charan's character Alluri Sitarama Raju plays a Brahmin in the film, and an ally to their cause.

He too gets a shot of him hitting the bull's eye, like Ram Charan's character did in the older video.  We also see the character erecting a flag with the Hindi words "Jal, Jungle, Jameen" (water, jungle and land) on it; a slogan Komaram Bheem popularised during the period. It however ends with a shot of Jr NTR walking towards the camera dressed like a Muslim man.

The period film starring Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Olivia Morris and British actor Ray Stevenson, will hit theatres on October 13, 2021.

The film is produced by Dasari Veera Venkata Danayya of DVV Entertainments. Cinematography is by KK Senthil Kumar (Baahubali series) and A Sreekar Prasad is the film's editor.
