Ammu, starring Aishwarya Lekshmi, is part of Amazon Prime Video's festive lineup of Great Indian Festival 2022. It also marks the OTT's first original film in Telugu.

With films like Alia Bhatt's Darlings, there have been attempts at creating an awareness about domestic violence. In that line, this film takes us through the journey of Aishwarya Lekshmi's Ammu as she decides to break free from a never-ending cycle of domestic abuse.

Ammu marries Ravi (Naveen Chandra), a police officer. She tries to manage her marriage life and make beautiful memories. But one day, Ravi slaps her. Shocked, Ammu tells this to her mother. Instead of getting furious, her mother asks her, "Why? What did you do?"

Ravi keeps hurting her, both physically and mentally. He even forces her to lie that he never hit her. While she tries to cover up for his behavior initially, she eventually decides enough is enough and plans to expose him. She also teams up with an ally, played by Bobby Simha.

What happens when a woman decides to fight back? Ammu releases on October 19 in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam on Amazon Prime Video.
