Vijay Deverakonda's upcoming film Liger, has been promoted heavily with the phrase, 'saala crossbred' for the past few months. And its trailer, which just dropped today, makes the phrase and its significance in the movie clear, seconds into the video. "My son is born to a lion and a tiger — he is a crossbreed," says Ramya Krishnan with a tinge of pride, introducing Vijay as Liger, a Mixed Martial Arts fighter determined to work up the ladder.

The trailer prominently features emotional archs and relationships in the film, including that of Liger and his mom, and Liger and Ananya Panday, his girlfriend. Liger, who suffers from a slight stammer, is encouraged by trainer Ronit Roy, who helps him represent India at the kickboxing sport. And how can the trailer end without boxer Mike Tyson making his stylish appearance. The American boxer is seen in a cowboy attire, asking Liger laughingly, "If you are a fighter, what am I."

Directed by Puri Jagannadh, Liger is produced under the banners Dharma Productions and Puri Connects. The film is set to be released in the theatres on 25 August.
