Shaakuntalam Trailer Talk: The Samantha Film Promises A Whimsical Romance

Samantha's Shaakuntalam narrates the love story of the mythological characters Shakuntala and King Dushyant, played by Samantha and Dev Mohan. The trailer of Shaakuntalam tells us that it is "a whimsical tale of love from the Mahabharatha."

Born out of wedlock to Menaka and sage Vishwamithra, Shakuntala grows up in the forest without the guidance of her parents. But her birth has a reason and she will create history, tells a sage. King Dushyant meets Shakuntala in the forest and they fall in love with each other.

But fate has other plans. When a visibly pregnant Shakuntala meets King Dushyant in his kingdom, he claims that he never knew her and sends her out. Meanwhile, the kingdom faces a huge threat and a war begins.

The trailer beams of majestic visuals, statues and grand palaces. Samantha also gets a beautiful introduction in the forest covered in butterflies. The story of Shaakuntala is set to hit the screens on Feburary 17, 2023 in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. The film will also be released in 3D.

Written and directed by Gunasekhar, the film is produced by Neelima Guna . It co-stars Allu Arha, Sachin Khedekar, Kabir Bedi, Dr.M Mohan Babu, Prakash Raj, Madhubala, Gautami and Aditi Balan. ManiSharma has composed the music.
