Lyca Productions, the production house bankrolling Rajinikanth's next, tentatively titled Thalaivar 170, took their official social media handles to announce the film's primary cast on Tuesday.
The film, directed by TJ Gnanavel, the filmmaker behind Suriya's highly discussed Jai Bhim (2021), will boast of a stellar ensemble cast featuring stars from different industries. To begin with, it has been announced that Amitabh Bachchan is a part of the film's cast. "Welcoming the Shahenshah of Indian cinema, Mr Amitabh Bachchan on board for Thalaivar 170. Thalaivar 170 team reaches new heights with the towering talent of the one & only, Amitabh Bachchan," the announcement tweet read. The film marks Amitabh Bachchan's Tamil debut.
Likewise, Malayalam star Manju Warrier who also appeared in Tamil films like Asuran (2019) and Thunivi (2023) is a part of the cast. It was also announced that Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Ritika Singh, and Dushara Vijayan have been roped into play prominent roles in the film.
The film has music by Anirudh Ravichander, making it the fourth Rajinikanth starrer to be scored by the composer, after Petta (2019), Darbar (2020), and this year's blockbuster Jailer.
The makers are yet to announce the commencement of filming. Post this film, Rajinikanth will be teaming up with Lokesh Kanagaraj for an actioner.
