Kunchako Boban-starrer Chaaver (2023), which was slated for release on the September 28 has been pushed off to a new release date. The film will be now released in theatres on October 5.

The action film, directed by Tinu Pappachan of Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil (2018) and Ajagajantharam (2021) fame, is one of the most anticipated films of the season, due to Kunchako Boban’s astonishing physical makeover and action hero avatar seen in the films promotional material. Chaaver also stars Anthony Pepe, Arjun Ashokan, Joy Mathew and Sangeetha in the lead roles. The film is expected to be a slick, rooted action thriller that integrates themes of politics and uses the regional performance art of “ Theyyam” as a recurring motif in its trailer.

Chaaver, co-written by actor Joy Mathew, will tell the story of a ragtag team of rebels traveling across a communally sensitive terrain in the course of a day to accomplish a mission. The film will narrate the often unexplored aspects of communal politics and other relevant contemporary issues in the backdrop of a series of fights and journeys undertaken by the four man team.

Chaaver is being bankrolled by Arun Narayanan Productions and Kavya Films. Justin Varghese composes the musical score while Jinto George cranks the camera. The film has been postponed due to some technical challenges but the new release date for October 5 remains confirmed as of now.
