Streaming platforms are notorious for their lack of transparency, allowing them to quote numbers that are tough to verify. Ormax Media, a media consulting firm, however, has been tracking viewership figures of the top releases across major platforms.

Here’s a list of the most-viewed shows and movies from the Indian streaming space during the week of August 28th to September 3rd, 2023. The numbers are estimates based only within India. This list does not include any streaming releases from the South.

1. Scam 2003 - SonyLIV

Views (million): 4.4

The second installment of the Scam franchise, which began with Scam 1992, is inspired by Sanjay Singh's book Telgi Scam: Reporter's ki Diary, chronicling the India stamp paper counterfeiting scam committed by Abdul Karim Telgi.

2. The Freelancer - Disney+ Hotstar

Views (million): 4.2

Based on the Shirish Thorat's book A Ticket to Syria, the series follows an attempt to extract a young girl held captive in war-torn Syria. It stars Anupam Kher and Mohit Rana.

3. Aakhri Sach - Disney+ Hotstar

Views (million): 3.4

The show starring Tamannaah Bhatia fictionalises the case of the Burari deaths, in which a family of 11 were found dead in their home.

4. Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan S5 - JioCinema

Views (million): 3.3

The TV series Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan revolves around the themes of love and friendship, following Manik Malhotra (Parth Samthaan) and Nandini Murthy (Niti Taylor).

5. Aashiqana Season 4 - Disney+ Hotstar

Views (million): 3.2

The successful supernatural-romance-thriller-drama returns for a fourth season.
